Some copywriters claim that the headline is the most important part of a sales letter. There’s a reason why some many people are echoing that…
The headline, by itself, can make a huge difference to your sales letter’s responses. If you hit the right headline, it’s like stumbling upon cold hard cash - only this time you can replicate it over and over again.
That’s what I going to impart to you here - the copywriting technique to craft insanely compelling headline. This is probably the single most profitable article you’ll ever get so listen up.
Before I go into the details, here’s a tip: To craft a headline that sells, you’ll always have to really grasp your audience. Who are you writing to? You want to know them like you know yourself and to do that, you’ll need to do some research. So before you write a word, go dig around for some information you can use to your advantage.
The "Rule" When You Write A Headline
Now for the meat. There’s a simple "rule" that applies to all persuasive headline and it’s this: It’s all about the benefits.
I know there’s nothing new about that but just hang on a second.
Your headline should not only contain benefits, it should contain unique benefits. Benefits people cannot get anywhere else.
Here’s an example from my website.
The gist of the headline is "How to write sales letter that converts at 5%". To make it unique, I changed it to include my experience:
"How I wrote sales letters that converts at 5%"
Now I’m going somewhere. Can you see what I mean? The second headline implies that the copywriting techniques I used are only available from me.
But a unique headline by itself is not enough. People are so bombarded by all kinds of promotions nowadays, that they are extremely skeptical to any claim.
So to address that problem, you need to tie your claim with a proof. In my example, I’ve already included that by telling people that I achieved it - thereby proving my techniques works.
The Headline Boosters
Now that you have a proven unique benefit in your headline, it’s time to take it to another level. To make my headline more appealing, I’ve included what I come to call…
"Headline Boosters"
The psychology behind it exploits a weakness in all of us: self-doubt. When someone reads a headline and saw the good things that CAN happen to them, they inevitably think…
"Can I also make it?"
So what I did to my headline is this:
"How A Clueless Guy Wrote a Sales Letter That Converts At 5%"
When your readers read that, they think to themselves, "Hey, if a clueless guy can make it, I sure can. I’m not clueless!"
Now that headline is pretty good but I’m not quite satisfied yet. What I did was I added another headline boosters and so my final headline reads,
" How A Clueless Joe Crafted A Sales Copy That Converts At 5%… Even Though He Did It Wrong"
with a subheadline that reads,
"And Now You Get To Discover The Techniques He Exploits When He Is Doing It Right!"
FYI, that headline is converting at about 12%. Note that it’s only for an opt-in page so if you don’t get that kind of results for your sales page, don’t fret. There’s ver few of us who can achieve that anyway.
Now, would you like steal more copywriting techniques I use that are making me more cash in one day than my monthly salary in my last job?
